History

The Robotlab of the department of Data-science and Knowledge Engineering was  founded in 2002. Till recently the Robotlab has mainly been used  for student projects. Projects with robots offer students  challenges they do not experience in other projects during their  study. Especially working with real hardware and handling  unreliable sensor information contribute to the challenges the  students have to address.

naoNao Robots

In 2009 the department of Data-science and Knowledge Engineering purchased four Nao robots. The Nao robots have initially been used for research projects of students doing a bachelor in Knowledge Engineering. Recently we started two PhD research projects, one on robot motion and one on robot vision.

In 2014, the four Nao robots were replaced by one Nao 4 model and three Nao 5 models.

Amigobotsamigobot

The Robotlab started in 2002 with four Amigobots. Amigobots are wheel-based remote-brain robots. the remote-brain refers to the fact that the robot controller is running on a server that processes the sensor information and sends behavioural instructions to the robot.
