2 papers accepted at CSEDU 2017 Conference


Two papers were accepted for publication in the proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Computer Supported Education (CSEDU-2017).

The first one is titled: “Personalized, affect and performance-driven Computer-based Learning”, authored by C. Athanasiadis, C.Z. Lens, D. Koutsoukos, E. Hortal and S. Asteriadis and the second one is titled: “A Course Recommender System based on Graduating Attributes” and is authored by B. Bakhshinategh, G. Spanakis, O. Zaiane and S. ElAtia

IMPACT project kick-off


RAI participates in IMPACT (International Meeting in Performing Arts & Creative Technologies), a project supported by Interreg (Euregio Meuse-Rhin) and officially launched on Tuesday, January 31st in Théâtre de Liège. In this project our Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning experts together with artist Marie van Vollenhoven will explore whether computers can learn concepts like “harmony” and “balance”.

First findings of this research project will be presented during Cross Currents festival organized by Jazz Maastricht (also a participant in IMPACT) on May 13th 2017.

Paper accepted at the VISAPP 2017 Conference


Our paper “Unsupervised discovery of normal and abnormal activity patterns in indoor and outdoor environments” (D. Dotti, M. Popa, S. Asteriadis) has been accepted for publication in the 12th International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications (VISAPP 2017).

Journal paper accepted at the Multimedia Tools and Applications journal (Springer)


Our paper “Landmark-based multimodal human action recognition” (S. Asteriadis, P. Daras), which is a joint work between the Univ. of Maastricht (NL), CERTH (GR) has been accepted for publication as an open access article to the Multimedia Tools and Applications journal (Springer) ( http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs11042-016-3945-6 )

 

RAI welcomes a new PhD candidate


We are happy to welcome Mr. Arpad Kocsis who has joined our group to work on feature discovery for personalised recommender systems in e-commerce. Arpad is already working as a data analyst for Navabi.

2 papers accepted at ECAI 2016


We will be presenting two papers at the 22nd European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI 2016):

  • “Bagged Boosted Trees for Classification of Ecological Momentary Assessment Data” (G. Spanakis, G. Weiss, A. Roefs)
  • “A Data Driven Similarity Measure and Example Mapping Function for General, Unlabelled Data Sets” (D. Lejeune, K. Driessens)

Paper accepted at HCist International Conference on Health and Social Care Information Systems and Technologies


Our “ThinkSlim” project paper “Utilizing longitudinal data to build decision trees for profile building and predicting eating behavior” (authored by Gerasimos Spanakis, Gerhard Weiss, Bastiaan Boh, Vincent Kerkhofs, Anne Roefs) is accepted as a full paper at HCist International Conference on Health and Social Care Information Systems and Technologies

RAI welcomes Dr Mirela Popa


We welcome today Dr Mirela Popa,  who has joined our lab in order to hold a key position in the ICT4Life EU project. She will work on research issues related to ambient assisted living, human activity recognition and machine intelligence.
