Hendrik
Baier is a Ph.D. student in the Department of
Knowledge Engineering at Maastricht University. He
holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Darmstadt
Technical University and a M.Sc. in Cognitive
Science from Osnabrück University. His current
research interests revolve around Monte-Carlo Tree
Search (MCTS), a best-first search algorithm that
uses sampling to evaluate states. Hendrik focuses on
both understanding and improving MCTS and related
search techniques, using one-player and two-player
games as application domains. He is particularly
inspired by the challenge of writing a master-level
