Tenure Track Postdoc/Assistant Professorship in Assistive Robotics (with focus on Robot Control, Human-Robot Interaction, and/or Exoskeletons)

**** Position
The SwarmLab Robotics Laboratory ([url]/) at the Department of Data Science and Knowledge Engineering (DKE) of Maastricht University (www.maastrichtuniversity.nl), Netherlands, invites applications for an open position in Assistive Robotics at the Postdoc or Assistant Professor level. Depending on their experience and performance, the selected candidate can start as a Postdoc researcher (with the possibility to get promoted to Assistant Professor at a later point) or immediately as an Assistant Professor. The position is initially offered for a four-year period, with yearly evaluation. Subject to evaluation and funding, the position is eligible to become permanent after four years or earlier. The position is embedded in the Brain-Robot project at Maastricht University where we seek to apply intelligent brain-robot and human-robot interfaces to the control of autonomous robotic systems.

**** Requirements
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in robotics or a closely related field. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a profound theoretical background and demonstrated practical experience with physical robots and robotic hardware. Expertise in robot control, human-robot interaction and/or exoskeletons is a necessary condition for this position. Any related experience (e.g., in areas such as computer vision, eye tracking, brain-robot interfaces, or augmented reality) is considered as a plus.

We are looking for a new colleague who is very interested in initiating, or contributing to research funding efforts. Promotion to Assistant Professor requires experience in giving classes at the bachelor and/or master level as well as in funding acquisition. Research and teaching is in English.

**** What we offer
The position is initially offered for a four-year period, with yearly evaluation. Subject to evaluation and funding, the position is eligible to become permanent after four years or earlier. Salary is competitive, depending on qualifications and work experience. The initial salary will be set in salary scale 10 of the collective labour agreement of the Dutch Universities (expected minimum €2532 and maximum €3997) for a full-time job (38 hours/week). On top of this salary, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance. Non-Dutch applicants could be eligible for a favourable tax treatment (30% rule).

The position is embedded in a lively and healthy working environment. Maastricht University has an excellent international reputation, and Maastricht itself is a beautiful, open-minded city located in the center of Western Europe.
